1. How Much water should be standing in the salt storage tank?

2 to 5 inches of water at the bottom of the salt storage tank is normal.

2. What is a salt bridge and how do I remove it?

A salt bridge is a hollow area below the salt in your water softener. Consult your Installation/Operation Manual (page 25) for instructions on how to break the salt bridge.

3. What happens if the power goes out?

The Morton System Saver Water Softeners have a built in battery that will keep your settings for up to 8 hours. After 8 hours you may need to reprogram.Consult your Installation/Operation Manual (page 18) for proper timer setting instructions.

4. How much water will be used during a recharge?

It will discharge approximately 40 gallons to the drain during a recharge. Consult your Installation/Operation Manual (page 6) for flow rates.

5. How long does a recharge take and when will it recharge?

The regeneration cycle will take approximately 103 minutes but may take longer depending on the settings. It is factory set to recharge on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 2:00 am but these settings are adjustable to meet your needs. Consult your Installation/Operation Manual (page 6) for cycle times, and the regeneration table (page 21).

6. How much salt will it use during a recharge?

It will use .9 pounds of salt per minute of fill time. Depending on your water usage, the Morton System Saver Water Softener will use between 2 1/2 and 7 lbs. of salt per regeneration.
